Mocean SIM Box Detector provides Mobile Operators the ability to detect routes that are utilising SIM Box systems for International traffic bypass. They can then immediately take proactive steps to eliminate this threat and reclaim loss revenues.

Mocean SIM Box Detector process

Mocean SIM Box Detector at work

Mocean SIM Box Detector works by allowing Mobile Operators to initiate Detection Calls to International Mobile Networks that are suspected to be using SIM Box systems for illegal traffic bypass. The Detection Call is inserted with a Tracking CLI (Caller Line Identification) and initiated accordingly. Once the destination International Mobile Network receives the Detection Call, due to configurations done, it will then need to route the call back to the Home Mobile Network and to the Mocean SIM Box Detector for termination.

This is where the difference in paths will occur between the normal and bypass traffic. In a normal traffic scenario, calls will be routed via normal traffic path back to the home Mobile Network and the Detection Call will reach the SIM Box Detector with its Tracking CLI not manipulated. In the event that the Mocean SIM Box Detector analyses the Detection Call and find that its Tracking CLI has been tampered with and replaced with number of an unknown SIM card, it will immediately flag this route and the fraudulent SIM card to the Mobile Operator. Action can be immediately taken to bar the said SIM card so that no bypass calls can be initiated from in anymore.

The Mocean SIM Box Detector can also optionally interface with the Mobile Operator’s HLR, Billing or Subscriber Provisioning system and allow Mobile Operators to suspend and bar the identified SIM cards from the platform itself, providing a single control interface.
